Alessandro
Marazzi Sassoon and Kong Meta, (Phnom Penh Post, Friday 23 June 2017) quoted my
statements to them in writing about the recent Prek Toal flooded forest fires.
“The outlook for
my hometown is rather grim – in large part due to the loss of economic
prospects. People in my village are
feeling very sad and depressed about their future.
The young people
are difficult to motivate and encourage to keep studying and working for a
better future. There has not been any
official recognition or support of these issues, either repair of the
environment or prevention of future fires.
Not only has their village been badly affected, their whole future
livelihood has been taken away.”

We are doing
everything we can to change our future and to give the village some hope.
Our Greening Prek Toal project is a way of
encouraging our villagers to work with partners, sponsors and the bigger
international community to help repair our environment and help our young
people to have a future.
